Go ahead, we can take it... Give us a piece of your mind. Complaint? Irritation? Suggestion?
Tell us, please.

And now a word from our sponsors...Premiums!

Advertising premiums have been a part of our culture for at least a hundred years and maybe more.

Shoe stores put their logo on shoe horns and button hooks in the early 1900's and gave them away to customers. Who could forget Buster Brown Shoes with their free prizes or Mr. Peanut salt and pepper shakers. Soon, almost every company or store started advertising their products by giving away or selling items depicting their store logo or mascot.

Radio and television advertising helped to popularize an array of cute critters designed to sell us on a particular product. There was the Big Boy(Bob's and Shoney's), Tony Tiger(not to be confused with the Esso/Exxon tiger), the aforementioned Mr. Peanut, the Keebler Elf, Speedy Alka-Seltzer, Mr. Clean, the Energizer Bunny, and even Smokey Bear, just to name a few.

Advertising items and premiums are very collectible and a lot of fun. I remember sending away for a Jiminy Crickett plastic cup during the 1950's when the original Mickey Mouse Club was on the air. The cup was shaped like Jiminy's head and he had flickering eyes, but they fell off after repeated washings. Ahhh, memories!
